Dorath

Dorath Trollbane was the younger brother of Eralas Trollbane, and one of the ministers and administrators of Stromgarde for most of his brother's reign. He was an outspoken critic of Archbishop Thomas Marden and he believed that Stromgarde's old legacy should be restored to create a new Empire of Arathor. As a warmonger, he was a heavy counterweight to the more cautious Eralas.

When Eralas Trollbane attended the Fenris summit, Dorath was left as regent of Stromgarde. He took the opportunity to mobilize the armies and crush what was left of the Arathi Freedom Movement. At Fenris, Eralas lost almost all of his bodyguards to the slaughter that took place there. War broke out between pagans and Lightists, but Eralas wanted to keep Stromgarde out of the war regardless.

By the time Eralas had returned to Stromgarde, he had fallen into a severe depression and abdicated shortly afterwards. Dorath Trollbane became king, and eventually declared war upon the Hesperian Alliance. In the meanwhile, Eralas answered the elven call to arms and travelled to Quel'Thalas to fight the Amani.

Left in charge of Stromgarde, Dorath oversaw the rise of Alden to the position of Bishop of Stromgarde. He then urged Alden to openly declare a separation from the Church of the Holy Light in Lordaeron. Alden thus became Archbishop of the separatist church of Stromgarde, but this choice displeased many and rioting broke out in Stromgarde. Lukas Notaras and many others abandoned Dorath's side during these crucial months.

Ultimately, Kariel Winthalus instigated the remnants of the Arathi Freedom Movement under Mallick Vitalian to undertake a convert strike at Stromgarde's capital from within. It was a successful coup in which Dorath and Alden were both slain.
